The Reverend Richard Hakluyt's ([1552]-1616) account of the voyage to Cape Breton Island and Newfoundland made in 1583 by Stephen Bellanger (Étienne Bellenger, explorer and merchant of Rouen) at the expense of the Archbishop of Rouen, Cardinal Charles de Bourbon. This account, written by Hakluyt for Dr. Julius Caesar, is fuller than the better-known version published in the famous geographer's Discourse of western planting, which was also written in 1584. Add. MSS. 14027, ff. 289-290v.
