Series consists of documents left in the Arctic by Sir John Ross and W.B. Shellabear during the expedition in search of Sir John Franklin, 1850-1851, and a subscription list to finance this expedition, 12 pages. The series also includes two notes left in a cairn on Cornwallis Island by Sir John Ross in 1851, 2 pages.

General note:

The documents left in the Arctic and subscription list were transferred in 1952 from the Department of Resources and Development, Ottawa.
The two notes left in a cairn were received in 1973 from Mr. Edward Long of Vancouver.
