Series consists of minutes, correspondence, election campaign literature, and other records concerning Kaplansky's early political involvement with the Labour Party of Canada and the Co-operative Commonwealth Federation (CCF). Items of note include the minute book of the Montreal District Council of the Quebec Section of the Labour Party of Canada, 1935-1938, a contemporary transcript of a discussion between CCF and Labour Party representatives concerning affiliation, 1937, election literature from Kaplansky's 1944 and 1950 electoral campaigns (in Yiddish, French, and English), and a letter from M.J. Coldwell to the Cartier riding CCF dated 24 May 1950.

This series also contains a "C.C.F. candidate campaign poster, Montreal, 1944", in horizontal storage, container 27.

Klein fonds (MG 30,D 167; Election Campaign Series) also includes records concerning Kaplansky's 1944 candidacy for the CCF., Materials on Kaplansky's 1944 and 1950 electoral campaigns for the CCF may also be found in two other series. The scrapbook in the Articles and Addresses series (container 28, folders 40 to 44) includes some of his election literature. The Articles and Addresses series contains radio addresses from both the 1944 and 1950 campaigns.
