Willy Czaikowsky, a Polish immigrant, sees from his train window the vastness of the Pre-cambrian Shield suddenly interrupted by a hustling city. With a Polish friend he sees this town, Val d'Or, and in talk with a prospector learns how the "men with the little hammers" search for and sometimes find a vein of ore. A new mining development is outlined in the film, from first diamond drilling to the mushrooming of a town, and later sequences show the work below-ground, the getting out of the soft yellow metal which is a token of exchange all over the world. <10mn>Subjects:CANADA~GOLD~MINES & MINING~PROSPECTINGLanguage:EnglishOriginal number:106B 0149 064Notes:Detailed holdings information: -
