Series comprises correspondence between Weaver and Canadian writers, and other figures associated with Canadian literature. The correspondence relates to his work as an editor with The Tamarack Review, anthologist of Canadian short stories, producer of CBC arts programmes, and organizer of the CBC's annual Literary Competition, and, in general, to his personal friendships with and support of Canadian writers.

The series has been arranged by correspondent in two subjects: nominal files and general alphabetical files. Where the writer was well-known or where the correspondence was significant, individual files bearing the writers' names were created and arranged alphabetically. Where the writer was not well-known and there was not a significant run of correspondence, the correspondence was filed in general alphabetical files.
