Series consists of material relating to Florence Bird's personal life and family. Included are biographical articles, clippings, diaries, a scrapbook and memorabilia; correspondence with friends and relatives, including the poet P.K. Page, Paul Chipchase (concerning his biography of Harry Cust), Robert Hecht (concerning his biography of Oliver Lafarge), and Stuart Legge; correspondence, tributes, notebooks, articles and other material relating to John Bird; material relating to personal interests of Florence Bird, including Sufism. There is also a farewell sermon for her uncle, Thomas Bayard, dated 1897.

Series also consists of publication of "The New Life", of Dante Alighiere, with wedding gift card inside addressed to John Bird, n.d. Also, book authored by Lester B. Pearson, inscribed by Pearson, with letter inside from Pearson to Bird. Articles written by John Bird as "Chief of the Southam News Services", Ottawa, and notes repudetly written by Senator Eugene Forcey (Volume 21, 1948-1969).

Series also contains postal covers consisting of 5 Canadian first day covers issued in 1982 (vol. 13, file 23). It includes the following issues: 30 cents Queen Elizabeth II; 30 cents Maple Leaf; 60 cents Ontario Street Scene; 30 cents, 35 cents and 60 cents International Philatelic Youth Exhibition, 1982; 30 cents, 35 cents and 60 cents Christmas.
