Series consists of a diary kept by A.C. Bell recording distances travelled while Aide-de-Camp to Major-General Hutton, and later to Lord Minto, 1898-1904, with later additions relating to Canada and the United States. This records his inspection tours of Canadian militia units in Canada, his trip with the Canadian contingent to South Africa for the Boer War, and the subsequent journeys, battles, and activities there, with his return to Canada as ADC to Lord Minto and the tours they did until the Mintos left Canada in 1904. Also recorded is a visit to Canada and the United States, 1906, with a list of subsequent visits to Canada to 1946. There are photographs, orders, programs and related material throughout the volume.
