Series consists of personal records and correspondence with families of servicemen, other chaplains, service organizations and the 1st Canadian Army Headquarters, as well as memoranda, daily logs, scrapbooks and printed material relating to his career as Chaplain during World War II. Rabbi Cass submitted an account entitled, A Record of a Chaplain's Experience, World War II (1942-1946) as his dissertation for the degree of D.H.L. based on his daily log, scrapbooks and files. In 1975 he drafted an outline for a book entitled, "The Jewish Chaplaincy in the Canadian Armed Forces in World War II".

Included in horizontal storage: Royal Appointment of Samuel Cass to the rank of Captain in the Canadian Chaplain Service, 1942, container 61; formation signs of various Allied Army Units, 1945, container 64.
