Series contains minutes and proceedings of this committee, established by PC 4260 of 27 August 1940 and chaired by C.J. Mackenzie. Composed of members of the National Research Council and other public servants, the committee directed the use of a fund donated by a group of prominent capitalists for the promotion of war-related scientific research. The committee renamed itself the Sir Frederick Banting Fund after World War II and authorized civilian uses of its funds in 1951.
