Series is composed of subject files arranged in alphabetical order, containing documents and photocopies of documents compiled or generated by the Toronto/Eastern Canada Section of the Veterans of the MacKenzie-Papineau Battalion. Much of the material is historic in nature. Included are correspondence files, draft lists of Spanish Civil War volunteers, reminiscences of veterans, and information on a host of other subjects relating to the MacKenzie-Papineau Battalion and its veterans' organization. Volume 6 of the series holds books, pamphlets, and other printed matter.

Walter E. Dent served as a member of the MacKenzie-Papineau Battalion during the Spanish Civil War. A long time executive office holder in the Veterans of the MacKenzie-Papineau Battalion, he was responsible for co-ordinating the collection of research materials in Eastern Canada for that organization's history book project.
