These notes, prepared by W.F. O'Connor to assist Borden in writing his memoirs, consist of a brief account of events with an indication of the chief source (usually an OC file or the Canadian Annual Review). Interfiled with the notes are copies of letters and other documents and in some cases original letters to Borden or carbon copies of his replies. Volumes 350-352 contain nearly all the original Borden correspondence that is available for the period 1900-1910.

The "notes" are generally a chronological record of events, 1893-1921, but in a few cases they are arranged by subject. For instance, volume 335 contains material relating to the Canadian Navy, 1912-1920 and volume 349 deals with Canadian constitutional development, 1857-1923. Volumes 353-354 include nominal and subject indexes for the notes, as well as indexes prepared by O'Connor of the books, pictures and papers of Borden. The Finding Aid is Part two of the unbound Finding Aid 18.
