They were attacked in an isolated machine gun post leaving only five of their nineteen-man gun unit.~At Vimy, Maiden describes his machine gun post on Hill 135, nicknamed "the Pimple," and the synchronized bombardment. Having achieved their objective of the "nine elms," the sight from the ridge was "ghastly from the bombardment."~Relieving the 5th battalion at the Arleux Loop assault, he remembers running into uncut wire protecting the enemy lines. Reassigned to a reinforcement camp in England, he was discharged and returned to Canada.Language:EnglishDetailed holdings information: -
