Towers is interviewed about his experience in 4th Canadian Infantry Battalion during World War I. He talks about his enlistment in 1914 in Vancouver with the Seaforth Highlanders as a "tommy" and his transfer to the 4th Battalion for basic training at Valcartier. At Salisbury, he describes the "wet, muddy weather." In May, 1916, having been promoted to Officer Commanding of the First Division Salvage Company, he describes his duty of gathering discarded equipment and returning it to Division Headquarters for reuse.
