Series consists of records concerning William Walsh's practice as a labour consultant and negotiator, his work with Indigenous organisations, and subject and research files on various topics.

Series documents services he provided to labour unions, including assisting in contract negotiations, the drafting of constitutions, and creating labour education courses. The unions included Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW), the Letter Carriers Union of Canada (LCUC), the Canadian Postmasters Association, the Sudbury Mine, Mill and Smelter Workers Union (Mine Mill Local 598), the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), the Ontario Nurses Association (ONA), the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) and others.

Series also documents the consultation services he provided to the Dene Nation and the Inuit Tapirisat of Canada (Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami) regarding their negotiations with the Canadian government. Other files in the series document topics such as general aspects of labour arbitration; research on wage rates and agreements; the disarmament group Veterans Against Nuclear Arms; labour history and Walsh's contacts with historians; labour and social protest music; and newspaper articles that refer to Walsh and his labour career.

Records include reports, negotiations papers, minutes, correspondence, photographs and other records.

Photographs in the series include: Walsh speaking, possibly in Thompson, Manitoba (probably in the 1970s or 1980s); Walsh serving as a judge at the Toronto Labour Day parade (4 September 1989); and a group portrait of Council of Postal Unions negotiating team, including Walsh and representatives from both unions (Letter Carriers Union of Canada; Canadian Union of Postal Workers) (1970).
