The series consists of register of baptisms, marriages and burials, 1845-1848, for the Congregational Church of Châteauguay, Quebec, which includes a number of entries for Châteauguay Basin. The register was kept by the Reverend John Bowles (d. 1855), who received his theological education at the Congregational College in Toronto. The Congregational Church at Châteauguay called him to be its pastor, 6 May 1845, and he was ordained to that ministry, at Châteauguay, 4 September 1845, by the agent of the Colonial Missionary Society, the Reverend Henry Wilkes (1805-1886), pastor of Zion Congregational Church, Montreal, together with the Reverend J.J. Carruthers.

Most of the pages in the register are blank after p.27.
