Series consists of a photocopy of a transcript of the will of Ralph Burton 1767 with Probate notes 1768 and 1769. In Burton's will he leaves his real estate at Hullbank, York County and in London to his minor son Richard under management of his cousin Robert Burton until his son's majority. Also included are annuities and a legacy to his wife Margaret, and a legacy to his daughter Mary.

Brigadier General Burton served in many battles in the Seven Years War under General Braddock, Lord Loudoun, General Wolfe and General Murray. He was Lieutenant Governor of the town of Quebec 1759-1760, the Trois-Rivières District, 1760-1762, and the Montreal District, 1763. From 1764 to 1766 he was Commander of the Northern Department, commanding all of the new Province of Quebec and the upper posts.
