Description:

The first live television colour broadcast (by satellite) to North America documents the final stages of the July 1, 1969 investiture of His Royal Highness Prince Charles Philip Arthur George Windsor as he officially becomes Prince of Wales. Commentary by Lloyd Robertson accompanies footage of events following the investiture held in Wales to honour its language, culture and connections with Britain. Noteworthy footage includes: the royal procession leaving Caernarvon Castle; waving crowds and close-ups of Welsh families; the royal carriage containing Prince Charles, Princess Anne, Prince Philip and Queen Elizabeth II; shots of the Queen Mother and Princess Margaret at the train station; the final presentation of arms; and Prince Charles inspecting the Guard of Honour of the Royal Regiment of Wales, his first duty as the new Prince of Wales.
