Series consists of letters patent appointing Lord Aylmer to be Vice Admiral of the colonies of British North America, Upper and Lower Canada, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island, parchment, 6 October 1830, 1 sheet; and letters patent appointing him Governor in Chief of Upper and Lower Canada, parchment, 24 November 1830, 6 sheets. The parchments are designated volume 2 and are held in horizontal storage.

A set of contact prints from the master negatives for the commissions has been shelved for reference purposes (Negatives C-126537 to C-126542 for the Commission as Governor in Chief, and C-126543 for that as Vice Admiral).
