This series presents a microfilm copy (on reel A-931) of selected Orders, Instructions and correspondence relating to George Townshend's participation in the Quebec campaign of 1759. The several blocks appear in reverse order of their file references, and the title panel appears at the end of each block. The records were filmed according to their arrangement at the National Army Museum, in five blocks by type of document: a file of correspondence, in English and French; a file of Orders and Instructions to subordinate officers; notebooks containing memoranda and journal entries, organized in four files; an Order book; and an English translation of a "French account of General Braddock's defeat ..." at Fort Duquesne in 1755. The relationship to Townshend of the first item, a petition forwarded by James Murray from Quebec to the Board of Trade, 30 October 1765, remains obscure, as the document is barely legible and no title panel appears.
