This series comprises transcriptions of selected letters exchanged with family and friends, and documents relating to George Townshend's participation in the Quebec campaign of 1759 and his subsequent interest in the colony of Quebec. Page 73 (a tracing on linen entitled "Plan of the town of Quebec, Enlarged from Bellin's Plan with Additions") was transferred to the Cartography collection in March 1953.

Location of originals note:

These copies were made from originals in two locations: pages 1-74 from documents deposited in a warehouse at Fakenham, Norfolk and pages 75-114 from the report of the 1761 trial by court martial of Captain Yorke at Quebec from the document held at the family seat at Rainham. Annotations indicate which originals subsequently passed into the Northcliffe Collection.
