The series comprises minutes of Executive meetings and Annual meetings with related correspondence and memoranda which document the governance and decision-making of the society. The minutes range over all aspects of the society's work, from the publication of its newsletter and membership drives to the organization of annual conferences and liaison with the International Congress of Anthropological and Ethnological Sciences. Some specific topics of discussion or debate, for example, included the journal task force and creation of the journal "Culture"; the society's disagreement with the Canadian Sociology and Anthropology Association over which organization represented Canadian anthropologists; changing the society's name from the Canadian Ethnology Society to the Canadian Anthropology Society; and the society's response to the controversy over "The Spirit Sings" exhibit at the Glenbow Museum in 1988.
