It was produced by a three-person film crew who travelled over 9,000 miles throughout mainland China and shot more than six miles of film footage. Several high-ranking Chinese officials are interviewed on the program, including Chen Yi, Vice-Premier and Foreign Minister, and Yeh Chichuang, Minister of Foreign Trade. The crew also filmed a typical farm commune, factories and May Day celebrations in Peking.
