Series consists of a diary of George H. Perley, 28 January - 30 October 1864. The irregular entries give some account of Perley's family, friends and activities in St. John and Lincoln, N.B.. Entries for 8-17 August 1864 provide an account of the Canadian delegates on their way to the Charlottetown Conference. Entries from 17 August to 30 October 1864 relate to Perley's voyage with Joseph Howe on H.M.S. Lily visiting the fishing harbours of Newfoundland. The diary is indexed in the General Index. Newspaper clipping printing an extract from a letter written by Captain Hamilton of H.M.S. Vesuvius to Vice-Admiral Sir A. Milne, dated St. John's 29 July 1863, concerning his cruise on the Labrador coast.
