The series consists of ten journals, 25 April 1854 - 11 November 1855 and 19 October 1874 - 3 August 1902, containing accounts of day to day events in the ministry of the Reverend Allen Salt, including records of baptism, marriages and burials performed by him. Personal events are also recorded and the first volume is preceded by a brief autobiographical account of Salt's early history written in the third person. Also included are a loose leaf recording the baptism, 20 March 1904, of Walton King of Parry Island (file 9) and a recipe for "Mothers Black Salve For curing Sores of all sort's" (file 14). The recipe is noted as having been obtained from the Reverend A. Salt (who obtained it from an Anishinaabe woman in Muncey, Ont.), 1897, and given by Allan Salt, Jr., to his sister Eva, Parry Island, Ont., 24 October 1910.
