Series consists of a diary describing Murie's Hudson Bay expedition. During this expedition Murie travelled by canoe and dog team from Cochrane Ont. to Whale River in 1914 and from Moose Factory to Port Harrison in 1915. He returned to Moose Factory by steamer the second year. The aim of the expedition was to collect specimens of birds and moles from the area. He collected approximately 600 mammals and 1300 bird specimens. In the diary he describes in detail the habits and distribution of wildlife and also the vegetation and weather. There is extensive information in the diary concerning the customs, legends and living conditions of the Eskimos and Indians of the Hudson Bay area with whom he associated.
