Sub-series consists of case files documenting the CLC's efforts to investigate and to resolve internal jurisdictional disputes and raids between affiliated unions. The file titles typically record the unions involved, the employer, and the location. The files contain correspondence, mediation reports, other reports, minutes, records of hearings, decisions, determinations, collective agreements, notes, membership records, print matter, publicity material, and other papers. Included are some general files documenting meetings of unions on jurisdictional questions in particular industries. The CLC originally referred to the cases documented in these files as jurisdictional disputes, but ca. 1964 a new group of files labelled as internal disputes was intitiated. Jurisdictional disputes files are usually identified with a J followed by a sequential number, and internal disputes files are usually identified with an ID followed by a sequential number. There is also a group of raids files, 1951-1966, identified by an R followed by a sequential number, and a small number of Code of Organizing Practices Charges files (identified with a C followed by a sequential number). The raids documented include those carried out by affiliates (which would invoke formal CLC procedures for complaints, charges, and sanctions) and by non-affiliates (not subject to CLC constitutional procedures). The CLC apparently closed and emptied some raids files, and provided see references to the new Internal Disputes files which were initiated ca. 1964; these see references are recorded in part 2 of finding aid MSS492, which lists the microfilms produced by the CLC itself.

Certain files available as originals (container 679, folder 1, to container 681, folder 18) were microfilmed by the CLC as part of its records management programme. The microfilm version of these files was acquired by the National Archives separately from the originals; the microfilm version is available on reels H-902 to H-905. While the originals and microfilm correspond closely, researchers should not assume that they are identical.
