The sub-series consists of the records of the Archives Section, which represented archivists in the CHA between 1955 and 1975, when the Association of Canadian Archivists was formed. The sub-series holds minutes, correspondence, financial reports, committee reports, chairman's files, records of the Committee of the Future and the Constitutional Committee, and copies of the Archives Section Bulletin. Records are grouped chronologically by functional year. It also includes records of the Archives Training Course, 1957-1970, and of the publication "The Canadian Archivist", 1969-1972. The fonds also consists of questionnaires prepared by the Archives Section of the Canadian Historical Association in 1974 (and completed by its members) concerning the question of whether it should form a separate professional organization for archivists in Canada. The questionnaires were used to produce an electronic database of the results. There were approximately 250 respondents to the survey.
