Fonds consists of textual records relating to the Canadian produced television drama series Scarlett Hill and its spin-off series Room to Let. Using a soap opera format, the first one hundred and thirty programmes of Scarlett Hill consist of twenty-six complete stories in five episodes each; the second one hundred and thirty programmes, Rooms to Let, were in strip format, with a continuous cast. Originally written by Robert Howard Lindsay and adapted for television by his widow, Kathleen Lindsay, the series employed other writers as well. A variety of actors, including John Drainie, Jane Mallett and Amelia Hall, and directors, including George McCowan, worked on Scarlett Hill. Room to Let featured the actors Beth Lockerbie, Ed McNamara, Alan Pearce, Cosette Lee and Ivor Barry. Scarlett Hill was broadcast twice in its entirety on CBC and was also sold to American and Australian television, as well as to Singapore. Textual records for the television series have been divided into two series as follows: Scripts, and Production material.

Also included in fonds are moving images including 130 episodes of Scarlett Hill consisting of 26 complete stories of 5 episodes each originally telecast from 15 October 1962 to 15 April 1963. Also included are 130 episodes of Room To Let, originally telecast from 22 April 1963 to 23 July 1963, and 16 September 1963 to 26 January 1964. In addition, fonds also includes six Czechoslovakian feature films as follows: Night of the Nun; Never Strike a Woman - Even with a Flower (Zenu Ani Kvetinou Neuhodis); Pleasure of the Father (Slasti Otce vlasti); Return of the Lost Son (Navrat Ztraceheno Syna); Young Bohacheck (Utrepni mladeho Bohacka), and Nahota. In addition, fonds consists of 137 films of various titles including documentary films; commercials; news films; and interviews.

Fonds also includes sound recordings documenting an interview with the Honourable Lester B. Pearson commemorating the 168th day of his term as Prime Minister of Canada, 1963; and an interview with Canadian poet, Wilson Pugsley MacDonald, 1961. Both interviews produced by Robert Crone Pictures Ltd.

Crone Films : Crone Films Ltd. was a Toronto-based audio-visual production company noted for its documentary and industrial films during the 1970s. Its president was Robert Crone. It acquired Canadian distribution rights to the television drama series Scarlett Hill and its spin-off Room to Let, which had been produced originally for CBC by Taylor T.V. Productions (owned by Maurice Taylor) at the Robert Lawrence studies in Toronto 1962-1964.
