Fonds consists of the personal papers of Vinodrai Vasani relating to his leadership of the Gujarati community in Canada from 1976 until his death. Included is material relating to the Sanatan Mandir Project of Toronto and the Gujarati Charitable Foundation, as well as obituaries of Mr. Vasani.

Vasani, Vinodrai, 1935-1993 : Vinodrai Vasani, a prominent leader of Toronto's East Indian community, was among the first Lohanas (Gujaratis) to settle in Canada. He immigrated to Canada from his native Kenya in 1976. Shortly after his arrival, he founded the Lohana Cultural Society and served as its first president. He was also founding president of the Federation of Gujarati Association which is the umbrella organization representing the Gujarati community of Toronto. He died suddenly in Bangalore, India in December 1993.
