Fonds consists of project files for major boiler installations 1969-1971 for large Canadian manufacturers and institutions such as Canadian Gypsum (Toronto, ON), Hudson's Bay Oil and Gas (Edson, AB), National Defence Medical Centre (Ottawa), Foothills Hospital (Calgary) and Toronto Hospitals Steam Corp. It includes specifications, plans, instructions, some correspondence and 10 boiler instruction manuals, 1967-1969.

Toronto Iron Works. Boiler Division : Toronto Iron Works Ltd., boiler fabricators, was founded in 1907 by Albert Ellsworth, the founder of the British American Oil Co. Since BA Oil needed oil tanks and other equipment, Ellsworth established Toronto Iron Works to build these items. In 1929, the company moved from its original location along the waterfront to Eastern Ave. in Toronto. The company weathered two receiverships, before it was bought by Canadian Erectors Ltd. in 1983.

Toronto Iron Works started its Boiler Division (1967-1971) to supplement its tank work. It sold and installed Eire Iron Works boilers in Canada. Unfortunately this division did not make money and its assets were sold to Volcano Inc. of St. Hyacinthe in the mid-1970's.
