Fonds consists of letters from Lucy Maud Montgomery to Ephraim Weber. The correspondence began in 1900, or 1901, but there are no surviving letters before 1905, or between 1909 and 1916. In her letters, L.M. Montgomery discusses the writing and publication of Anne of Green Gables and her many other books, poems and short stories, writers and publishers in general, education and religion, current events, her travels, and domestic activities.

Weber, Ephraim, 1870-1956 : Ephraim Weber, teacher, was born in Waterloo County, Ontario, and was the son of a Mennonite family. He attended school in Berlin, Ontario, where he was a classmate and friend of W.L. Mackenzie King. After completing his preliminary education, Ephraim Weber taught school for a short time in Ontario, and then migrated to Alberta where he homesteaded and wrote poetry and essays, although he never realized a literary career. Around 1909, Ephraim Weber began studying again, in Vancouver, and Calgary, and then at Queen's University and the University of Chicago. He returned to school teaching in Saskatchewan. In about 1900, Ephraim Weber became acquainted with L.M. Montgomery through her writings in magazines and began a correspondence with her that was to last for forty years.
