Dow, Wentworth, 1829-1904 : Wentworth Dow (1829-1904), soldier, was born at Kingsclear, New Brunswick. In August 1856 he emigrated to the United States, and worked as a lumberman in Wisconsin. He served from November 1861 to July 1865 with the Union Army in the U.S. Civil War as a private in Company E, 16th Regiment of Wisconsin Infantry Volunteers (Adams County Rifles) and on detached service at Headquarters of the 16th and 17th Army Corps. Following the war, he returned to Wisconsin where he turned to farming.
