Television public affairs and entertainment program hosted by Ian Tyson, Peter Reilly and Larry Zolf. To celebrate the program's theme, "Canada's centennial", the show is filmed from the Tyson ranch near Bowmanville, Ontario. Pan shots of the ranch highlight the rolling countryside, the ranch outbuildings and the Tyson's Victorian-style farmhouse. In the large country kitchen hosts L. Zolf and P. Reilly talk about their ancestors from Poland and Ireland and try to define what it means to be a Canadian in this centennial year. In a profile of the nearby city of Bowmanville and its residents, SUNDAY visits 90 year-old Mini Elizabeth McComb, writer and poet, who reads her poem, "Mother Love". Charlie Chamberlain, the "singing lumberjack" on DON MESSER'S JUBILEE, is interviewed about his career, his Maritime roots and Canada's centennial. Ian Tyson sings a song, "Mr. Spoons", for his one year-old son, Clayton. Hosts Zolf and Reilly interview Judy Lamarsh, Secretary of State, about her role in the centennial celebrations and being a woman in male-dominated politics. Clips of Newtonville United Church service typify life in a Canadian small town. The possibility of Canada being absorbed into the United States is the subject of an interview by L. Zolf of Prof. George Grant, author of "Lament for a Nation". The song "Four Strong Winds" sung by Ian and Sylvia as they look out over the barren winter fields of their ranch closes the program in an elegiac mood.
