Robertson (family), fl. 1817-1852 : The Robertson family of Welland County included Alexander, Donald and Kenneth. Kenneth Robertson worked in the Accounting House of Col. Samuel Street and likely lived in the area of Allanburg, Welland County. James Kerby, Colonel Commanding the 2nd and 3rd Lincoln Regiments of Militia, formed the Queen's Niagara Fencibles, a local volunteer unit. At the request of Kerby, Robertson was appointed paymaster to the Queen's Niagara Fencibles on 1 January 1838. The Queen's Niagara Fencibles was disbanded in July 1838. Subsequently, to meet a real or perceived threat from disaffected persons, authorities raised a number of provisional battalions including the 10th Provisional Battalion to which Kenneth Robertson was named paymaster in November 1838. (Robertson also served as the paymaster of the 2nd and 3rd Lincoln Regiments of Militia.) Following the period of Rebellion, 1837-1838, Robertson became the treasurer of St. Andrew's Church in Galt, Ontario, 1844.
