Fonds consists of records created during Duff Roblin's career in the Senate, 1978-1993. Series include Office of the Leader of the Government in the Senate files, 1984-1986, subject files, 1975-1992, files on bills, 1986-1992, conferences and organizations, 1984-1992, defence, 1978-1992, constitutional reform, 1950-1990, Senate reform, 1934-1992, free trade, 1978-1992, and energy and the environment, 1984-1992.

Fonds also consists of photographic material depicts events and individuals associated with the political career of the Honorable Duff Roblin as leader of the Government in the Senate, Ottawa, 1984-1986, such as Hon. Duff Roblin being sworn in as leader of the Government in the Senate, Ottawa, 17 September 1984; visit of Pope John Paul II to Ottawa, 19-20 September 1984; visit of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip to Ottawa, 26 September 1984; individuals such as Joe Clark, Queen Elizabeth II, Otto Jelinek, Pope John Paul II, Brian Mulroney, Mila Mulroney, Steve Paproski, Prince Philip, Duff Roblin, and Jeanne Sauvé.

Also included is a caricature by Globe and Mail cartoonist James Reidford entitled "At Great Expense to the Management, Duff Roblin and the Political Circus".

Fonds also includes a sound recording of a speech delivered in 1985 by Roblin on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Canadian Federation of Agriculture.

Roblin, Duff, 1917-2010 : Duff Roblin (1917- .), Senator, was born June 17, 1917 in Winnipeg, was educated in Winnipeg and Chicago, and served with the RCAF during World War II. He was a Member of the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba, 1949-1968, and Premier, 1958-1967. In 1967 he was a candidate for leadership of the federal Progressive Conservative Party. In 1970 he was elected President of Canaidan Pacific Investment, Ltd. In 1978 he was appointed to the Senate by P.E. Trudeau. He was leader of the Government in the Senate, and a member of the Cabinet, from September 1984 until June 1986. He served on a number of Senate committees including the standing committees on Agriculture, Banking Trade and Commerce, Energy and Natural Resources, Foreign Affairs, Legal and Constitutional Affairs and National Finance, and the Sub-Committee on National Defence. He retired from the Senate in 1993. Duff Roblin died in 2010.
