Sweet, Meryl, ca. 1939-1992 : In 1952, Meryl Sweet was a student living in Roblin, Ont. Following the death of King George VI in February 1952, Meryl Sweet wrote a letter of sympathy to the new Queen Elizabeth II, and he received an acknowledgement from Buckingham Palace. As an adult, Sweet was afflicted with multiple sclerosis, and eventually died. During his illness, his letter from Buckingham Palace was one of the things that gave him comfort.
