Fonds consists of extracts from the diary of Marshall MacDermott for the period 1808 to 1815. The extracts commence with the embarkation of a division of troops from Halifax under Sir George Prevost and end with the departure, in 1815, of the 1st Battalion of the regiment, for England.

MacDermott, Marshall, fl. 1808-1830 : Marshall MacDermott was an officer of the 8th Regiment of Foot (King's Liverpool Regiment). MacDermott was a lieutenant from 19 July 1810 to 29 April 1819, and paymaster from 29 April 1819 to 28 September 1830. He served in the 1st and 2nd Battalions of the 8th King's Regiment, from 1808 to 1829.
