Fonds consists of minutes of meetings and conferences, reports, correspondence, identification and personal documents, statistical information, financial statements, maps, newsletters, and other material relating to the Ukrainian Central Committee during World War Two, the Shevchenko Scientific Society in the Post-War period and Prof. V. Kubijovyc's personal and community activities and interest in Ukrainian academic and political life (volumes 1-28).

Fonds also consists of photographs of Volodymyr Kubijovyc with family, friends and colleagues, including one photograph of Anna Zhuk.

Kubijovy¿c, V. (Volodymyr), 1900-1985 : Volodymyr Kubijovyc was born 23 September, 1900 in Nowy Sacz, Poland. During the years 1928 to 1939, he taught at the University of Krakow. In 1940, he was appointed professor at the Ukrainian Free University in Prague. Since 1931, he was a full member of the Shevchenko Scientific Society, heading its geographic commission. He was the Society's General Secretary from 1947 to 1963, and from 1952, President of its European branch. He became the Society's honourary member in 1981.

During the Second World War, he headed the Ukrainian Central Committee (UCC) in Krakow. This committee was the only officially sanctioned Ukrainian political and community organization under Nazi German administration during 1939-1945. The Committee was responsible for social services, veterans affairs, education, youth and economic activities.

After the war, Kubijovyc emigrated to Germany and to France. In 1949, he became the chief editor of the Encyclopaedia of Ukraine later the editor of Ukraine: A Concise Encyclopaedia which was published in two volumes in English in 1963 and 1971. In 1984, he became the chief editor of the six-volume English-language edition of the Encyclopaedia of Ukraine.

In his capacity as chief editor and major intellectual contributor to these encyclopaedic projects, he travelled extensively among the Ukrainian communities in Australia, United States and particularly in Canada. He met with Ukrainian Canadian academics and scholars and enlisted their support and contributions to the encyclopaedia project. He developed close ties with the Canadian Institute of Ukrainian Studies at the University of Alberta in Edmonton and also with Ukrainian Canadian academics at the University of Toronto. Both institutions, as well as many scholars of Ukrainian descent living in Canada, contributed to the successful completion and publication of the encyclopaedia in 1993.

Volodymyr Kubijovyc died on 2 November, 1985 in Paris, France.
