Robert Bennie (1827-1910) was among the first settlers of Riverfield, Quebec. His son, James Keir Bennie (1865-1934) was a school teacher who eventually became a member of the staff of the Georgraphers' branch, Department of Interior. He was also an active member of the Knox Presbyterian Church. He married Edith Amelia Porteous (1870-1966).
