A record of the royal and regimental colours of units in Military District No. 3, Kingston, compiled by the District Officer Commanding, Brigadier W.B. Anderson (1877-1939). The record lists battle honours, donors and location of colours for Non-Permanent Active Militia and Canadian Expeditionary Force units within the district. Mimeograph copy, 4 pages.

Anderson, William Beaumont, 1877-1939 : Military Officer

William Beaumont Anderson had a very successful career with the Canadian Militia. He was born 9 September, 1877. He graduated from the Royal Military College in 1897. Also, Anderson passed the final examination of Staff College, England. His first appointment was with the Reserve of Officers on 24 June, 1897. He was then appointed to the 43rd Regiment 16 December, 1899 and to the 97th Regiment on 2 April, 1901. After a series of appointments and service with the Royal Canadian Engineers and as Military Staff, Anderson was appointed Captain of the Royal Canadian Engineers on 7 March, 1905, and Major on 15 November, 1910. He was made Lieutenant-Colonel Brevet on 1 July, 1915 and Colonel Brevet 1 April, 1920. Andersonwas also appointed District Commanding Officer of various Military Districts throughout his career.

Lt. Colonel Brev. Col. Anderson was appointed a Companion of the Distinguished Service Order and Companion of the Order of St, Michael and St. George. He retired from the Canadian Militia after an incredibly successful and wide-ranging career on 31 May, 1938. He died in 1939.
