Photostat of a typed copy of the paper he delivered to the Royal Society of Canada on May 25, 1894 entitled "Sable Island: Its History and Phenomena". The paper was published independently under the same title that year. Also included is a copy of a chart entitled "Known Wrecks on Sable Island", compiled by S.D. Macdonald in 1862 and revised by J.A. Leger in 1930. Photocopy, 49 pages.

Patterson, Reverend George, 1824-1897 : Clergyman Historian

Born in Picton and educated at Dalhousie College, Halifax, the Reverend George Patterson was a Presbyterian minister in Picton and New Glasgow, Nova Scotia. He was also a prolific historian and he published works covering a wide range of subjects including local history, European exploration of North America and the Indians of Newfoundland.
