Women's Canadian Historical Society of Ottawa : The Women's Canadian Historical Society of Ottawa was inaugurated in 1898 by Lady Edgar, President of the Women's Canadian Historical Society of Toronto. The Society was established to encourage the study of Canadian history and literature, the collection and preservation of Canadian historical records and relics, and the fostering of Canadian loyalty and patriotism. The name of the Society was changed on 5 August 1956 to the Historical Society of Ottawa. The Society operates out of the Bytown Museum of Ottawa, Ontario.
