MacKay, Stephen Samuel, b. 1792 : Militia officer

Stephen Samuel MacKay (b. 1792) was the grandson of Francis MacKay, Surveyor General of Woods, Quebec, 1766-71, who through his marriage to Marie-Anne Marchand des Lignières acquired lands near Lake Champlain and at St. Eustache. He also owned land in Jamaica and received a royal grant to Lot 55 in Prince Edward Island. Stephen S. MacKay pursued an active career in the militia, following family tradition.
