Selections from this class include only a few items from seven of its volumes, 1762, 1764, 1773-1789 and 1838. Copied are letters relating to the legality of collecting duties formerly payable to the French Crown in Quebec after the British conquest; the right of the Auditor General of Plantations to audit the accounts of revenues arising in colonies acquired by Britain subsequent to his patent; the tardiness of Receivers General of Quit Rents and Casualties in America in passing their accounts; the report of the Auditors on the accounts of Sir Thomas Mills, Receiver General of Quebec; the payment of bills drawn by Governor J.F.W. Des Barres for purchasing timber for the Cape Breton Loyalists; bills drawn by Sir Guy Carleton for the expenses of surveying lands for the Loyalists, the method for discharging the expenses of the Civil Establishment in Quebec and recovering the money owed by William Grant, former Deputy Receiver General of Quebec; the auditing of the accounts of the Collector of Customs at Quebec, Thomas Ainslie; the accounts of Charles Stewart, Cashier and Paymaster of the Customs in America; the rejection of Lieutenant-Governor Sir George Arthur's proposal for the separation of the Commissariat of Upper Canada from that of Lower Canada.
