Fonds consists of a genealogy (1593-1983) of the families of Henry, Richard and William Henders and allied families: Evans, Wylie, Swain, Granby, Philp, Thornton, etc. of Ontario and Western Canada. Consists of charts, maps, abstracts of census records, reminiscences of different family members, copies of photographs, newspaper articles and land records. Also contains a brief history of the Henders family in Ireland.

Henders, Ontario and Western Canada (family) : Henry Henders (ca. 1815-1878) was born in Brideswell, County Wexford, Ireland and married in 1842 in Cavan Township, Durham County, Ontario, to Francis Coe (1820-1913). Richard Henders (ca. 1812-1880) was probably born in Brideswell and married ca. 1847 in Manvers Township, Durham County, Ontario, to Phoebe Evans (ca. 1823-1915). William Henders (ca. 1822-1908) was also born in Brideswell and married ca. 1859 in Manvers Township to Susan Philip (ca. 1839-1892). Henry and Richard emigrated to Canada in the late 1840's and settled at Yelverton, Manvers Township. William came to Canada at the age of 18 and settled in Melancthon Township, Dufferin County. These three men are believed to be brothers but a family relationship has not yet been proven. Several members of these three families eventually moved to the western provinces.
