Fonds consists of a certificate, rules relating to the Orange Institution, biographical notes on Arthur McClean and other papers relating to Arthur McClean and his activities as Grand Master in the Orange Order. A book which came with the papers and entitled "Annual Report of the Proceedings of the Grand Lodge of the Loyal Orange Association of the British North America and its General Meeting", held in Port Hope, 1852 (Toronto 1852) has been microfilmed by the National Archives Library. Photocopies, 13 pages.

McClean, Arthur, fl. 1804-1839 : Born in Ireland, Arthur McClean (fl. 1804-1839) came to Brockville in 1825, where he established a general store. He organized an Orange Lodge in Elizabethtown (No. 1) and later he became master of Lodge No. 2 in Brockville. Later the descendants of Ogle R. Gowan denied Arthur McClean's role as first master of Lodge No. 1.

The text in this book was underlined in an attempt to disprove the claims by descendants of Ogle R. Gowan.
