Fonds consists of oral history interviews of personalities both famous and obscure, active in all walks of Canadian theatre from 1870 to the late 1960s, including interviews Grace Lydiatt Shaw did on the history of the Canadian theatre for CBC Radio, n.d., 1961-1967.

Fonds also contains transcripts of interviews with Canadian actors, directors and others for Stratford Under Cover: Memories on Tape (1977); clippings and notes concerning the history of various theatres, drama companies, stock companies in Alberta and festivals, research materials relating to various other aspects of Canadian theatre; biographies; correspondence, n.d., 1922-1980.

Shaw, Grace Lydiatt, 1918- : Grace Lydiatt Shaw was born in Calgary, Alberta and grew up in a background of music, theatre and the arts. In the 1950's, she became associated with the C.B.C. in Vancouver and Toronto where she researched and wrote her own scripts on such subjects as criminology, the behavioural sciences and the performing arts. Her extensive programming in Corrections brought a suggestion by E. Davie Fulton of her being named to the National Parole Board (this did not materialize). Many of her programs have been broadcast by the B.B.C., N.B.C. and International Service.

On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Stratford Festival, she published Stratford Under Cover (1977). She later moved to Ottawa where she became engaged in free-lance writing, research and public relations.
