Fonds consists of correspondence, 1940-1958; resolutions, 1943-1954; financial records, 1942-1952; newsletters, 1948-1951; and other material, 1940-1945, relating to the work of Kanados Lietuviu Taryba.

Fonds also consists of a film on a Lithuanian family in Winnipeg for the CKY series Canadian All, [ca. 1965].

Kanados Lietuviu Taryba : Kanados Lietuviu Taryba was organized in 1940, to unite Lithuanian Canadians against the occupation of their old homeland by the Soviet Union and to combat pro-Soviet propaganda in Canada. After the war, Taryba took up the cause of Lithuanian Displaced Persons, working to help them in the refugee camps and to establish themselves in new homelands. The organization had a number of branches, the most active being in Toronto, Montreal and Hamilton. With the influx of several thousand Displaced Persons to Canada after the War, Taryba became dominated by the new arrivals, who tended to be anti-clerical. This resulted in considerable friction with community members already established here for some time. As a result, a number of organizations arose to challenge Taryba for the allegiance of Lithuanian Canadians, the most important of these being the Sajunga. In the early 1950's, attempts to end these conflicts resulted in the creation of the Lithuanian Community in Canada.
