Burman, Fred, 1888-1984? : Born in Skaerpinge, Sweden, Frederick (Fred) Burman emigrated to Canada in 1909. Settling in British Columbia, he briefly took up a homestead near Barrière. As the land proved unsuitable for farming, he returned to work as a labourer, spending most of his working life employed by the various small lumber companies which operated in the province.
