Fonds consists of administration and personal papers of Sir Francis Bond Head (originals, 1836-1874), and Head family correspondence (microfilm and photocopies, 1827-1841). The microfilmed correspondence of various members of the Head family refers to political events and individuals such as the Rebellion of 1837, Sir John Colborne and Lord Durham.

Head, Sir Francis Bond and family, 1793-1875 : Sir Francis Bond Head was Lieutenant-Governor of Upper Canada at the time of the Rebellion of 1837. He had held the post from 1835, and though his resignation was tendered in September 1837, he was not relieved until January 1838 and was thus, in command during the Rebellion.
